Keisuke Kinoshita, alleinerziehender Vater seiner 8-jährigen Tochter Miu, erhält die Diagnose „Früh einsetzende Alzheimer-Krankheit“.
Seit dem Tod seiner Frau lebt Keisuke mit seiner Tochter glücklich im Wohnheim seiner Arbeitsstelle als Metallverarbeiter einer Fachfabrik. Beide verbindet sie ein sehr starkes Band. Er hat, genau wie seine Tochter, ein sonniges Gemüt und wird von den Mitarbeitern, seinem Chef und den Nachbarn sehr geschätzt. Die Dinge nehmen jedoch eine bittere Wendung, als Keisuke realisiert, dass seine Vergesslichkeit immer mehr ihren Tribut fordert.
Seine Tochter Miu – nach außen ein verlässliches und starkes Kind, im Inneren jedoch ein junges und verletzliches Mädchen – wird nun nach dem Tod ihrer Mutter ebenfalls mit der Krankheit ihres Vaters konfrontiert.
