»Ozosaki no Himawari« erzählt die Geschichte von sieben jungen Erwachsenen, die ihren Alltag in Shimanto, in der Präfektur Kouchi, meistern.

Jotaro Kodaira hat in einer Großstadt eine ziemlich entspannte Zeit verbracht, so wie jeder gewöhnliche junge Erwachsene. Nach seinem Studium an einer privaten Universität fand er Arbeit und lebte ein mittelmäßiges Leben. Doch nach einer siebenjährigen Beziehung verließ seine Freundin ihn und so ziemlich zur gleichen Zeit wurde er auch noch gefeuert …

So kehrt er nach Hause zurück, wo er sich genauso unwohl fühlt. Er sucht weiterhin nach Jobs und wird auf einer Website fündig, auf der Freiwillige zur Wiederbelebung des Städtchens Shimanto gesucht werden. Dort meldet er sich auch prompt, woraufhin sein neuer Lebensabschnitt mitten in Kouchi beginnt, in dem er viele neue Freunde kennenlernen soll.
