Nanami Momozono has a “little” problem: her father loves to gamble, and when he accumulates too many debts, he simply runs away. That doesn’t bother the creditors too much, since they still have the house and its contents – thus, Nanami ends up on the street.

However, the hopeless situation does not stop Nanami from rescuing a young man from a dog. And when he finds out about her situation, he even offers Nanami to live in his house. Gladly, Nanami accepts the offer, only to find out that the young man’s house is a shrine. To be precise, it is now her shrine because the man was a god who transferred his powers and duties to Nanami. Now, she not only finds herself in the world of youkai and gods but also has to get along with her moody and arrogant confidant, the fox-youkai Tomoe.

Nanami Momozono hat ein kleines Problem. Ihr Vater liebt das Glücksspiel und als er eines Tages zu viele Schulden angesammelt hat, macht er sich kurzerhand aus dem Staub. Das stört die Gläubiger nicht groß, es gibt ja noch das Haus samt Inventar, und so landet Nanami auf der Straße.

Die aussichtslose Lage hält Nanami aber nicht davon ab einen Mann vor einem Hund zu retten und als der von ihrer Situation erfährt, bietet er Nanami sogar an, in seinem Haus wohnen zu dürfen. Nanami nimmt das Angebot natürlich gerne an, nur muss sie dann zu ihrer Überraschung feststellen, dass es sich beim Haus um einen Schrein handelt. Um genau zu sein ist es ihr Schrein, denn der Mann war ein Gott, der seine Kräfte und Pflichten auf Nanami übertragen hat. Nun findet sie sich nicht nur in der Welt der Youkais und Götter wieder, sondern muss auch noch mit ihrem launischen und arroganten Vertrauten, dem Fuchs-Youkai Tomoe, auskommen.

Un bel giorno, tornando a casa, Nanami Momozono trova una lettera del padre in cui c’è scritto che è andato via e che è inutile cercarlo. Pochi istanti dopo suonano alla porta alcuni uomini che, a causa di debiti mai pagati, le portano via tutto quello che ha, casa compresa. Ritrovatasi all’improvviso in mezzo a una strada, Nanami non sa proprio che fare, ma in quel momento compare uno strano uomo che si offre di ospitarla … Peccato che casa sua sia un vecchio e decrepito tempio shintoista e che lui sia … una divinità! La ragazza può restare, ma in cambio dovrà farsi carico del suo lavoro … Di cosa si tratterà?
