Abiru ist der Häuptling einer Rasse anthropomorpher Eidechsen, die in den Sümpfen am Rande des Jura-Waldes leben. Seine Persönlichkeit ist recht ernst, er ist mutig, bescheiden und weise. Er geht sehr überlegt vor und wählt bei seinen Entscheidungen stets die Option, die für sein Volk am besten ist. All das macht ihn zu einem guten Anführer. Für seinen Sohn Gabiru und seine Tochter Souka wünscht er sich, dass sie durch eigene Kraft das Beste aus ihrem Leben machen. Als sein Sohn wegen Hochverrat zum Tode verurteilt werden sollte, verschont er sein Leben indem er ihn stattdessen in die Verbannung schickt.
