Ami ist die Tochter von Akihiko Asai, dem Besitzer des Cafés, in dem Shinichi Sakurai und Hana Uzaki arbeiten. Sie ist etwas älter als Shinichi und findet ihn ziemlich attraktiv, auch wenn sie nie versucht hat, ihm das zu gestehen. So wie ihr Vater mag sie es, die Gäste und Mitarbeiter des Cafés zu beobachten.
